IT expertise from northern Europe
“Finland offers the automotive industry far more than frozen lakes for vehicle tests. The country has a solid tradition in wireless communication and development of mobile devices”, says Mikko Koskue, responsible for the Finland Pavilion. Out of this tradition, an agile start-up culture has developed. In only a few years, many start-ups have grown to strong companies and have become technology leaders. Even though the country does not have a traditional automobile industry, innovative experts, e.g. in UX design or connectivity, have created key-solutions to enhance the driving experience. The Finland Pavilion at booth 27 on ConCarExpo 2017 offers concentrated IT competence.
Wide-ranging product portfolio in digitalization of the car
Foreca, the weather service company, is a worldwide leading provider of highly precise digital weather forecast data. Besides providing just atmospheric weather, Foreca is the pioneer in the field of advanced road weather and driving condition forecasting. Detailed road weather data keeps drivers informed about potentially hazardous conditions along their journey and is also highly relevant for the future autonomous car. Foreca collaborates for example with BMW, TomTom and Microsoft. On the ConCarExpo Foreca is showcasing a live road weather service demo.
Koru has specialized on software with branded and multifunctional touchable car keys. At the ConCarExpo the company will introduce a smart car key concept built using their UX platform. Special attention deserves the new user interface and the dashboard components.
Very soon vehicles will exchange huge amounts of data among each other. By now Tuxera is the market leader in embedded storage software and connectivity for smart cars. The company helps its customers to find the best hardware-software combinations and helps car makers meet their specific requirements. On ConCarExpo the company presents one of its latest development: the Event Data Recorder. The computer saves data shortly bevor and during an accident. In doing so, it`s possible to retrace how the accident could have happen.
For the past hundred years, the heart of the car has been the combustion engine – for the next hundred years, it will be a computer. Fast-growing Link Motion is about connecting cars in a secure and cost-efficient manner, virtualizing ECUs and bringing separate systems together. Motion T, a secure connected carputer by Link Motion combines five previously separate systems into a single powerful computer that can run up to three displays simultaneously. Link Motion team welcomes all visitors to see the Motion T carputer live and to listen them giving insight on how to build a connected vehicle gateway in a secure and cost-efficient manner.
